Protagonist Development
My main character is Ruth, an average, edgy teenage girl going through life. She's haunted by the manifestations of her own mental illness. I started with just a few faces, trying to workout how she'll look. I practiced a some expression studies, trying to flesh her personality out a bit.
Style test and moodboards
My first step with any project is to create a visual library of references, and make endless moodboards, I like to create style inspiration, and content too. This helped me decide on a style pretty quickly, and as a first attempt I created a quick self portrait.
